Hey all!! Have been suffering from anxiety for three years now, along with depression. Just wondered if there were any others on here the same. Would be good to make friends with people that understand what it's like, as a lot of people i meet don't seem to. Thanks all

may i suggest you read panic and agrophobia by derrick silove and vijaya manicavasagar...also go to your doctor and ask to be referred to a counsellor that deals with cognitive behavioral techniques....

Lilmisjo, you might find the following link helpful:
http://www.mind.org.uk/help/diagnoses_and_conditions/anxiety#further Mind publications are of good repute - as standard, they also offer further areas of potentially relevant reading, and are certainly worth checking out ... hope you derive some benefit. |

Hey Lilmissjo, Have you tried exercise? I have had 2 serious bouts of depression, suffer anxiety and panic attacks and been a little O.C.D. Some years ago I was about to go on yet another course of Prozac and counsilling and fighting hard when my dr suggested trying exercise. It realises endorphines and balances other emotional chemicals. Im not saying its a cure but It has changed my life - now im in control (95% of the time)plus Im fitter and made some new friends.

Hello Lilmissjo, Yes I've had anxiety/ depression I don't think its anything to be ashamed of either. probably a lot of people suffer at one time or another from it but either don't regognise/deal with it in a healthy way. Sounds like your exploring the healthy avenues to a more positive you. I've found the main thing is trusting your inner voice. Not doubting or judging how you feel.
We are in a society where its not ok to say how you really feel. Sometimes people may be frightened by you sharing a confidence of how you feel they may feel obligated to fix the problem or just don't know how to help. Thats why its so important to find a counsellor who you feel safe with to explore how you feel. I wish you all the best for the future! |

Hi
I went for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for a while and was told about two websites which are supposed to help you to help yourself. One was Living Life to the Full (http://www.llttf.com/) which has different modules to work through for different issues. Also Beating the Blues (http://www.beatingtheblues.co.uk/) Maybe some of you will find these helpful... E |

Hi
I gave up caffeine completely and that helped. Reiki healing helped. Citalopram made me really ill. People to talk to and realise it's normal, that helps. Taking each day at a time and having little targets sounds really annoying but it does help. Not beating yourself up is difficult but that helps too. And all those lovely people on here who have helped - THANK YOU! |
