Message from the Operator of Fishing For A Friend

Philosophy

Fishing For A Friend aims to be an ethical, safe and entertaining online meeting place with a friendly environment, polite language and safe use, without the use of irritating pop-ups or the unacceptable obtaining or divulging of personal details.

The operator tries to make sure all submissions fit in with the site's philosophy, which is why the administrator reserves the right to edit or remove text or suspend a user where ethical intentions are being compromised. Members are encouraged to report unacceptable contributions or behaviour and there is a rule of "three strikes and you are out" which results in permanent removal.

Advertising

To cover the cost of running this website Fishing for a Friend derives an income from advertising. Information that would need to be presented to third parties will consist of statistics about all site users as a whole (e.g. gender distribution, post code location and interest) and it is so little sophisticated, that it can be printed on a few pages of A4.

Private information, such as your personal email address, will not be divulged to a third party, unless it is a legal obligation and comes with a court order or search warrant! You will notice that we do not ask for your home address or any plastic card details, because we do not need them.

Personal Safety

As this virtual meeting place is designed to lead to real live meetings, please be sensible to be safe.

Observe the usual practices:

  • keep your personal details to yourself until you feel confident to share them
  • have your first meetings in a public place
  • when you are meeting up, tell a friend about your plans
  • if you are under 18, discuss your moves with a parent before you meet up
  • if something does not feel right, then walk away
  • but most of all, have fun!

Reporting

Despite all efforts to make this site as wholesome and welcoming as can be, no one can vouch for the behaviour or character of every user. If you have any concerns or observations that you feel should be reported, please contact us.
